Debit card transactions have steadily been rising among State Bank of India customers, data procured from the bank via the Right To Information Act by MediaNama has revealed. The number of transactions in November 2012 were 61.61% higher than in November 2011, while the amount transacted was higher by 90.3% for the same two months. The average amount transacted in November 2012 was 17.75% higher than the amount transacted in November 2012. Some observations: - In July 2012, the number of transactions grew by 15.61% month on month, a substantial rise. - There's been substantial dip in the number of transactions in February and April 2012. - As of November 2012, the total number of debit card banking transactions stood at 8,127,426, while the total amount transacted stood at Rs 1393.22 crore. - Note that while the amount transacted between September and November 2012 increased drastically by 25.32%, the number of transactions only grew by 8.47% Data Source: State Bank of India, via RTI Share data sources with us: contact nikhil@medianama.com Advertise: To advertise on Chart of the Day, contact sales@medianama.com.
