Vineet Taneja Made Country Head of Mobile & Digital Imaging, Samsung India

Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd has appointed Vineet Taneja as the Country Head for its Mobile & Digital Imaging Business reports The Hindu Business Line. Taneja will be replacing Ranjith Yadav, and will look at improving consumer preference for Samsung mobile phones, improving Samsung's mobile portfolio along with content and services. Previously, he was the Operations Director, South India & Sri Lanka at Bharti Airtel. Taneja also had a 3 year stint with Nokia India in different roles between 2006 to 2009, so it's back to the handsets business, and this move is particularly interesting given the battle between Nokia and Samsung in the Indian market, especially at the top end, where Lumia appears to be struggling to challenge Samsung's Galaxy series. Taneja has also worked with Hindustan Unilever Limited, where he had a 17 year stint. In another major appointment last year, Samsung India Electronics had promoted B.D. Park as the Managing Director of India and CEO of South West Asia. Related Developments: In June 2012, Nokia had appointed P.Balaji as Senior VP (IMEA) and Managing Director for Nokia’s Indian operations. P.Balaji has taken over Nokia India at a turbulent time for the company. It appears that the race to the top is getting tougher for the mobile brands in India. And companies are responding to the competition through changes in their top management, other means apart.
