Online and telephone business listings service, JustDial is planning to launch an online food delivery service, reports TechCircle. Citing a source, the report states that the company is inking a deal with a large restaurant chain for this purpose and as part of the agreement, JustDial will be managing the restaurant chain's call centre and will be taking a commission of 5% of the order value in return. Its currently not clear if this initiative will be limited to a particular restaurant chain or JustDial plans to extend this initiative to other restaurants as well. When we contacted JustDial regarding this, the company declined to comment on this service, stating that they are currently in a quiet period. JustDial had re-filed for an IPO in August last year. Bookurtable.com Partnership: JustDial had previously tied up with the online restaurant reservation and food ordering service Bookurtable.com, to allow users who search for restaurant listings on JustDial to make reservations. While the current status of this partnership is currently unknown, its possible that JustDial was probably testing waters with Bookurtable and is now looking to setup its own online food ordering service, rather than partnering with other players in the food ordering segment. Also, its worth noting that JustDial probably has an existing relationships with restaurants that are already listed on its portal and has a quite strong foothold in several Indian cities including tier II and III cities in the country.
