The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators), has reported an addition of 0.40 million GSM connections in January 2013, closing in at 657.5 million, an increase of 0.06% from 657.1 million subscribers in the previous month.

Also note that the COAI has not included subscriber numbers for S Tel and Etisalat DB.

Coai Jan Telco 2013

– Idea added 2.45 million in January, taking its connection base to 116.39 million.
– Bharti Airtel added 2.28 million connections, taking its connection base to 184.19 million.
– Vodafone added 0.22 million in January, taking its connection base to 147.70 million.
– Aircel lost 1.77 million in January, taking its connection base to 61.57 million.
– Uninor lost 1.40 million in January, taking its connection base to 40.11 million.

– Among metro circles, Delhi added 75,030 GSM connections, with Chennai adding 25,003 GSM connections.

Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
