Ditto TV Partners With ZeeQ For Content


UntitledZee New Media’s Ditto TV has partnered with ZeeQ, an edutainment channel, to offer the latter’s content on their platform. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Content: The tie up brings ZeeQ’s video content on Ditto TV’s platform as an on demand service. ZeeQ currently has shows such as M.I.Four, Sid the Science kid, The Backyardigans, Franklin and Friends, among others. The company informs MediaNama that the ZeeQ channel is available as a part of Ditto TV’s combo package. Subscribers cannot buy the ZeeQ channel exclusively.

Ditto TV’s platform is currently available on mobile platforms such as Android, iOS and BlackBerry. Apart from that, it’s also available on Windows, Windows 8 and MAC PCs.

Ditto TV Launch

Zee New Media, the digital business of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, had launched Ditto TV in February 2012. The service offered live TV streams and video on demand content on mobile phones, tablets, PCs, entertainment boxes and connected TVs. The platform was powered by Siemens Communication and Media Technology and is currently available in the India, United States, UK, UAE, New Zealand, and Australia among others.

In August 2012, Ditto TV had claimed to have clocked 100,000 downloads since launch and partnered with the Indian Postal department in August 2012, to introduce a Cash On Delivery payment option for its subscribers, as indicated by an Afaqs report.

In January 2013, Ditto TV had inked a distribution deal with IndiaCast, the content asset monetization joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18. Apart from that, Ditto TV has also partnered with ZEE, Reliance Broadcast Network (RBNL) and TV Today Network for content.

Other developments

In December 2012, Online video streaming service, iStream had inked a multi-year licensing deal with IndiaCast, the content asset monetization joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18.

In February 2013, BoxTV, a video content destination platform by Times Internet*, had inked content agreements with Sony Pictures Television and Disney UTV to offer premium movie and television titles on its portal. While the deal period or the financial details of the partnership were not disclosed, Disney UTV said that it will be offering content from ABC Studios, Disney UTV Pixar, Disney UTV and Disney UTV Studios as part of the deal.
