NBA India Appoints Yannick Colaco As Managing Director

Updated: The National Basketball Association (NBA) has appointed Yannik Colaco as its chief operating officer Managing Director. In this new role, Colaco will manage NBA’s India office and oversee all the league’s business and basketball development in the country. He will be based in Mumbai and will report to NBA President, International, Heidi Ueberroth. Colaco will be responsible to build the league's effort to improve basketball participation in the country along with the Basketball Federation of India. He will also work with the league's media, marketing and merchandising partners and will be responsible for the NBA’s social media presence in the country. Prior to joining NBA India, Colaco worked at Nimbus Sports. He joined Nimbus Sports in 2002 and was named as its COO in 2009. NBA, a global sports and media business features three professional sports leagues: the National Basketball Association, the Women’s National Basketball Association, and the NBA Development League, which has been active in India since 2008. The association opened its Mumbai office in 2011 and claims that it has organized more than 450 events in 10 cities in India.
