In the quarter where Microsoft released Windows 8, it has posted a total revenue of $21.46 billion for the period ending December 31, 2012, up 2.73% from $20.89 billion in the same quarter last year. Microsoft reported an operating income of $7.77 billion for the quarter, a 2.75% decline from $7.99 billion in Q2-FY12 and a net income of $6.38 billion for the quarter, a 3.6% decline from $6.62 billion in Q2-FY12. The division posted an operating profit of $3.29 billion for the quarter, up from $2.88 billion profit in Q2-FY12. Microsoft says it has sold 60 million Windows 8 licenses to date.
