Squeakee.com, an offers and specials (deals) local search engine, has raised seed funding from Kae Capital and Mumbai Angels, reports Techcircle. While the exact amount has not been disclosed, the report mentions that it's under $1 million. The site went live last week and allows users to search and discover offers & specials around their preferred brands, products or category in their respective city or vicinity. It allows merchants to promote their offers and specials using its location-aware technology with an intent to drive consumers in their stores. According to the report, the service is live in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, but the hyper-local search is available only in Mumbai. Users can either search for offers by keying-in the name of their area or the type/name of the merchant in a search bar or by selecting across categories such as Coffee, Food, Shopping, Mobiles, Electronics, Home & Kitchen, Beauty & Health and Entertainment. They can register and follow a brand on Squeakee to get regular notifications whenever a new offer or an update comes from the brand. We tried browsing offers and found that the site displays search results listings, which can be clicked to locate the merchant on a map. The map listing can be further expanded to get more details, but the site redirects to the merchant's site after one clicks the 'I Want This' button on the deal description.
