Times Business Solutions’ property listing portal MagicBricks, has relaunched its Home Decor section to offer information and local resources related to home furnishing and home improvement.

The company had launched the section in May 2012 and was previously offering products and services across various categories like furnishings, interior design, moving, renovation, security and Vastu among others, as indicated by an EFYTimes report. It also claimed to offer news, views and insights across five home improvement categories.

In the current avatar, MagicBricks claims to offer articles across 16 home improvement categories including Paints, Walls, Flooring, Lights, Fabric & Linen, Home Security, Furniture & Fixtures, Accessories, Kitchen and Vaastu – Feng Shui among others. It also offers various home styling ideas based on themes and trends, seasons and festivals and space management and do it yourself (DIY) projects.

When we checked, we noticed that the homepage showcases articles from various sections mentioned above. Users can click on any of the featured articles to read it further or click on any specific category in the navigation bar to browse through articles in that category.

We also noticed that each article listing offers various social media buttons to share the article via email, Facebook and Twitter or to add it to  one of their boards in Pinterest. There is also a keyword based search box to allow users to search for articles on any specific topic.

Sponsored Sections: Interestingly, we noticed that MagicBricks has signed on relevant brands to sponsor specific sections. For instance, the Paints section is sponsored by Berger Paints, while the Flooring section is sponsored by Somany and the Lights section sponsored by Havells. Besides that, the homepage sidebar also showcases links to dedicated microsites of these advertisers which offer additional information on the advertiser and their products.

Articles: When we checked, we noticed that the site is currently offering a mixture of in-house content and content sourced from various editions of Times Property, the real estate supplement of the daily, Times Of India. In each article, MagicBricks surfaces article suggestions from that section on the side and related articles at the bottom along with social media buttons to recommend and forward the content through email or share it on Facebook and Twitter. The site also allows readers to post comments by signing up through their Facebook or Twitter accounts or by providing details like Name, Email address and location as well as share their comments on Facebook and Twitter.

No Mobile version? At the time of writing this article, the site doesn’t seem to have any mobile presence. There is no dedicated mobile site for MagicBricks Decor or a mention of the Decor section on the company’s WAP site or its Android app.

Live Chat and Offline Events: Going forward, MagicBricks stated that it plans to introduce live chat sessions with prominent Interior designers and specific category experts as well as conduct offline events like seminars and exhibitions to provide face-to-face interactions in the future. It also plans to further localize the content to provide granular information to consumers, in the future.
