Industry Moves: Akamai, DDB Mudra, eBay

Akamai Technologies has appointed co-founder and Chief Scientist, Dr. Tom Leighton, as CEO effective January 1, 2013. Akamai's current CEO, Paul Sagan, will step down in January 2013. Leighton and Sagan will remain Akamai directors, and Sagan will become a senior advisor to the company. Apart from that, Akamai has also promoted two executives. Effective January 1, 2013, Robert Hughes will become President, Worldwide Operations, and Rick McConnell will become President, Products and Development. Both are currently Akamai executive vice presidents and will report to the company's new CEO, Tom Leighton. **** Mitali Srivastava, Associate Vice-President, strategy and planning at DDB Mudra has put in her papers, reports Afaqs. As of now it's not clear where she'll be heading next, however, the report indicates that she might start her own firm. Srivastava had joined DDB Mudra in 2010 and was based in the Mumbai branch and reported to Aditya Kanthy, senior VP, planning, DDB Mudra, Delhi & Mumbai. Prior to joining DDB Mudra, she worked at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising as planning director. She has also worked with TBWAIndia, Mindspace communication, and Zee news among others. **** eBay has appointed Ramkumar Narayanan as General Manager, eBay Product Development Center with immediate effect, reports Business Standard. At eBay, Narayanan will be responsible for focusing on data driven product innovation supporting eBay businesses across multiple markets. Prior to joining eBay, Narayanan worked at Yahoo as  the Vice President of Global Product Management.
