Twitter inked an exclusive sales deal with Indian advertising firm Komli Media for ad sales across South East Asia. Komli will sell promoted products for Twitter in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines, apart from holding training programs for agencies and large advertisers, as per a note we've just received from Komli. The company will also keep a dedicated sales team for Twitter's advertising products: Promoted Tweets, Promoted Accounts and Promoted trends. The note says that these products have been available in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Latin America only, but I don't think this is correct - I've seen promoted tweets, accounts and trends from India as well. It's interesting to note that this deal doesn't appear to include India. Shailesh Rao, Former Google India MD, is Twitter’s Vice President of international revenue. Note that Komli has a partnership with Facebook for premium products, but neither Komli nor Facebook have come clean on what exactly these premium products are, and what elements of Facebook advertising are exclusive to Komli. We've asked. Other vendors also sell Facebook advertising in India, and one can also buy advertising directly. Komli also handles Zynga's display and video advertising in India, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
