One97 Communications* has appointed Sandeep Amar as Vice President - Mobile Marketing. This was first reported by IndiaDigitalReview. Confirming the appointment to Medianama, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder & Managing Director, One97 Communications said that Amar will look after the company's mobile marketing and audience business. Prior to this appointment, Sandeep Amar was the Vice President and Head of Marketing & Audience at Indiatimes*, until he put in his papers last month. In this role, he was responsible for the Above the line, Digital marketing, and Below the line marketing campaigns for Times Internet Limited. He was also responsible for managing the search engine optimization and analytics activities for Times Internet Limited properties like TimesOfIndia.com, Economictimes.com, Indiatimes.com, Gaana.com, Zigwheels, Timesdeal.com and others. Amar had joined Times Group’s internet division in 2007, heading marketing at Times Business Solutions and leading Simplymarry.com and Ads2book.com. In 2009, he was made the Head of Marketing and Audience at Indiatimes. He’s also had a brief stint with Indiatimes in 2003, and with The Times Group’s direct marketing team in 1997. He’s also worked with Zee Telefilms, Citigroup, and Hindustan Times in various roles. In addition to this, the report also suggests that Upen Rai, who was previously Director of Sales at Indiatimes, and had quit the company at the same time, has now joined former Times Internet CEO, Rishi Khiani's yet unknown entrepreneurial venture.
