Hiring In Internet & Mobile Sectors In June 2012: Up 9% On Naukri; 8% On TimesJobs

According to Naukri.com‘s Job Speak Index, which is an indicator of job listings on its portal, the hiring activity in the Media sector (which includes Internet and Mobile sectors, according to the company's classification) has increased by 9% in June 2012, when compared to last month i.e. May 2012, and by 19% compared to June 2011.  The Naukri Job Speak index for the sector stood at 944 for June 2012, a 9% increase from 861 last month. Last month, the index had marginally declined to 861 from April 2012′s figures of 884. Note that the index uses the total number of jobs in July 2008 as a base (of 1000). Meanwhile, according to data from TimesJobs*, there was an 8% month on month increase, in demand for IT/Telecom (includes mobile/internet) jobs in June 2012 , while there was no increase in demand for jobs in the Media/Entertainment sector in that period, on the site. Note that TimesJobs has a different approach to classification of sectors, and clubs together media with entertainment, and mobile/internet with IT. Entertainment/Media sector: There was a 12% increase in demand from April to May 2012, and 4% from March to April 2012. In Media/Entertainment segment, Mumbai was the leading location, followed by Delhi-NCR and Bangalore. The top functional areas were Marketing and Advertising, sales/business development and IT/Telecom, while demand for editors/journalists was the least.
