Hi, what are you looking for?

Pearl & Gaurav Kachru Leave Smile Group

Pearl Uppal, co-founder and CEO of fashion focused ecommerce website FashionAndYou.com, has quit from her current operating role in the business. She had partnered with Harish Bahl, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Smile Group to launch the online retail venture in early 2010. According to a statement from the company, Uppal will continue to remain involved in building fashionandyou.com in the capacity of co-founder; shareholder, while Harish Bahl will look after the operations of the site with her, till a new CEO is named. It is not clear as to where she is headed next. This comes just days after Gaurav Kachru, co-founder and CEO of daily deals site DealsAndyou, also backed by Smile, left the group, to start his own venture, as reported by Techcircle. Note that Gaurav Kachru is Pearl Uppal's husband. So in a way, this marks the exodus of the Kachrus from the Smile Group. Earlier, Gaurav Kachru had stepped down as the CEO of DealsAndYou.com and had rejoined Smile Group’s Corporate Development and Strategy team. He was replaced by Ryan Valles who took over as the new CEO of DealsAndYou. Kachru had overseen the setup of DealsAndYou along with Harish Bahl, and had taken on the role of CEO at DealsAndYou.com in November 2010, after the exit of the Guneet Singh, Co-Founder of DealsAndYou.
