Naukri JobSpeak Index: Hiring In Media, Internet & Mobile Sector Down By 3% In May 2012

According to Naukri.com‘s Job Speak Index, which is an indicator of job listings on its portal, the hiring activity in the Media sector (which includes Internet and Mobile sectors, according to the companys classification) sector has declined by 3% in May 2012, when compared to last month i.e. April 2012. The company attributed this decline to uncertain economic conditions and low GDP growth. The Naukri Job Speak index for the sector stood at 861 for May 2012, 3% decline from 884 last month and 16% decline from May 2011. Last month, the index had marginally increased to 884 from March 2012's figures of 883. The overall Job Index however was quite stable with the hiring activity in May 2012 being 10% higher, compared to May 2011. The job index touched 1194, a marginal increase from 1193 last month. Sectors: Auto, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors are witnessing positive hiring activity with the index increasing by 8%, 6% and 3% respectively in May 2012 over Apr 2012 while the Software services and Pharma sector are witnessing stable hiring activity.
