Rocket Internet Launches FoodPanda In India

Corrigendum below FoodPanda, an online food ordering service owned by Rocket Internet has launched in India. FoodPanda.in is live, and a call to the company's call center suggests that the service went live around 15-20 days ago. At present, FoodPanda lists 232 restaurants in Delhi, and as a promotional offer, is giving away free Cafe Coffee Day vouchers worth Rs 100 on every order of Rs 500 and above, and a free couples movie ticket offer of Rs 300 for every order of Rs 1000 and above. Customers are charged for delivery according to the terms determined by restaurants. We checked, and the website doesn't list terms and conditions for restaurants and merchants. Delivery isn't available for many locations in Delhi, and we were hard pressed to find restaurants. We found around 43 restaurants close to Greater Kailash, Delhi. It's worth noting that almost every single restaurant in this list accepts only Cash on Delivery: There also appears to be a minimum order requirement: if customers don't order the minimum amount, there is a prompt, asking them if they've willing to pay the difference between what they're ordering and the minimum amount: Competition FoodPanda will compete with JustEat, which launched its services in India by acquiring HungryZone. Given that JustEat lists "750+ restaurants" for takeways and table bookings, and has only expanded to Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi, it is rather impressive for Foodpanda to already have 232 restaurants.
