DailyMotion Blocked In India On RCOM; Airtel & RCOM Block Bookmarking Site Xmarks

It just gets worse: Reliance Communications (RCOM) has now blocked access to video sharing site DailyMotion in India. On being tipped off on Twitter by @pranesh_prakash, we tried accessing the service using a Reliance Data card, and got the following familiar notice, indicating that "This site has been blocked as per instructions from Department of Telecom (DOT): Dailymotion has significant partnerships in India: like in case of YouTube, many content owners host their official channels, with news, music videos and clips, on the video sharing site - sites like Rajshri Media, iStream.in, Saavn, BollywoodBackstage, NDTV, Mid Day, NewsX, Lehren, GlamSham have a presence on the channel. Readers might remember that the Samajwadi Party, the political party which won the recent elections in Uttar Pradesh, also livestreamed the inauguration ceremony of its Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on DailyMotion. MediaNama has contacted Raajh Singh, Managing Director, Dailymotion India, for comments and inputs on what they're planning to do about this block. Bookmarking Sync Site Xmarks.com blocked on Airtel and RCOM And it gets bizarre: Xmarks.com, which is a bookmark syncing site which allows users to sync their bookmarks across different browsers across computers has been blocked both on Airtel and Reliance Communications. Why this is bizarre - it just prevents users from syncing there own bookmarks across different computers and devices. It's not even that users are sharing their bookmarks publicly.
