Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s Reliance MediaWorks, formerly Adlabs has partnered with Los Angeles(US) based digital production studio Digital Domain Productions to set-up visual effects and 3D Stereo production services studios in Mumbai (India) and London (UK). The studios will cater to motion pictures, television, commercial, and stereo 3D conversion for catalogue projects from August 2011 in phases. Reliance MediaWorks intends to set-up the new studio at its Media BPO in Navi Mumbai, and will deploy an additional team of upto 650 artists for projects allied with Digital Domain. The London studio will be located within Reliance MediaWork's UK facility. According to the company, both studios will be connected via its fibre optic network for data transfer. In December 2009, Reliance MediaWorks had announced a partnership with 3D Stereo studio In-Three. Digital Domain's parent company Digital Domain holdings acquired In-Three in November 2010. In-Three, through its patented technology Dimensionalization, specializes in 2D to 3D conversion of movies. Digital Domain had recently completed visual effects work on Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Thor and X-Men: First Class, and is now working on projects such as Real Steel, Jack the Giant Killer and 47 Ronin. The company believes that the partnership will enable it to expand services to existing and new clients across the globe. In May, Digital Domain filed an initial prospectus with the US regulators for an IPO, to raise $115 million.
