MapmyIndia Updates Maps With House Numbers For 18 Cities

MapmyIndia, the Qualcomm Ventures, KPCB, Sherpalo, Nexus Venture Partners funded location based services and maps company, has added house numbers on its online maps for 18 cities namely, New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Mohali and Panchkula. Zooming on to the last level in the maps will enable users to see residential house numbers, commercial building addresses and names, apartment complexes, businesses and points of interest in the mentioned cities. In August 2010, the company had added this functionality for Delhi and Chandigargh in its device maps, however, it has now extended it to its online free maps. MapmyIndia has also added building footprints, which depict the built-up area of a building in maps for Delhi and Mumbai. Although, these are not available for all localities. At the moment, the house numbers can only be located and viewed on the map, and house number search will be incorporated in a later release. Users can get door-to-door driving directions by selecting the originating and destination points on the online map. Also, it now allows users to add and share new places on maps such as their homes, offices, frequent hangouts and other places of interest, with their friends via e-mail and social networks.
