Shortly after the travel information company HolidayIQ, announced the merger of its operations with Singapore based travel meta search engine WeGo, and raised funding; the combined entity has launched an online flight search engine on the HolidayIQ website. The search facility is available for both domestic as well as international flights. The site claims to get results from over 150 travel websites. However, at the time of writing this post, we observed that it searches through and redirects domestic bookings to airline websites and international bookings to travel agents such as Cox & Kings, Skytours, Jetabroad and Ebookers. In contrast, Ixigo, another flight search engine shortlists flight deals from Yatra, Expedia, Via, Travelocity and others, in addition to direct results from airline websites. It also lets users search for flights on multiple OTAs (online travel agents) at the same time, displaying results from each one, in separate windows. Why can't HolidayIQ search through popular Indian OTAs? Just like other OTAs and search engines, HolidayIQ offers search filters on the basis of details like price range, departure time, airlines, airport, number of stops among other information, in addition to choosing different currencies for ticket prices.
