AOL appears to have pulled the plug on its India property, following massive layoffs earlier in March, reports, via a tweet. An AOL India spokesperson told MediaNama that the site was shut down sometime last week. We’re awaiting more details.

When we tried accessing, it redirected us to CoolAge – a mobile site targeting college students., however, is still alive, and it appears that the company’s content plans (following acquisitions of TechCrunch and Huffington Post) do not include an extension in India.

In March, AOL India moved its business and support functions, including Finance are to Mindtree Solutions, retaining mostly employees are from AOL Mobile, working on Coolage product. The company had informed us that around 400 people in India were laid off (transitioned out, as they said), and 300 transferred to outsourced partners. Our sources told us that employees were also being transferred to HP, and teams transitioned included engineering and AOL’s access/paid services related teams as well.
