Content Deals: Times Music-Ithos Digital; UTV Interactive-Moviebox Records

Times Music has inked a content distribution deal with Ithos Digital for the Singapore market. Through the deal Times Music will be able to offer its content on digital and mobile platforms in Singapore including on DRM-free music stores run by Starhub, SingTel and M1. Times Music has content across niche categories such as devotional, wellness and classical music.
Nikhil adds: Interestingly, the Times Music website suggests that they’re revamping, and are going to allow users to ‘listen to tracks add them to playlist and check all the features.’ Why does Indiatimes have Gaana.com?

UTV Interactive, the new media arm of UTV has renewed digital rights with Speed/ Moviebox Records, a music label in India for Punjabi music albums. It has also inked licensing deals with other Punjabi music labels including Spine Records, Silver Streaks and Kizmet Records. The rights include mobile content services, including CRBT, WAP, SMS, Mobile Radio, Videos on 2G and 3G services as well as all rights for content embedding, internet streaming and downloads.

Gaana will be more of like in.com where audience and advertisement is the aim; and Times Music is more of promoting and selling of it’s own content. 2 very different things here.
