Opera Jan 2011: Wikipedia Rises, Mobile2day Emerges, GetJar & Zedge Decline

Opera Software, which positions India as the third largest market for its Opera Mini mobile browser, has indicated a comparative decline in mobile usage for mobile application store getjar and user generated content aggregator, Zedge.net. While Getjar has slipped four positions down to the number nine spot, Zedge is down one position down, at number seven during the month of January. Mobile2day.com, which is an app store is a new entrant at number eight. Orkut continues to be at number four, behind Google (consistently number one), Facebook and YouTube. Wikipedia has been the highest gainer, up three positions from last time, while usage of Yahoo has also increased. Opera's State of the Mobile web report for January 2011, suggests that in terms of unique users it has seen a year on year increase of  267.3% from India, a 371.6% increase in page views, and page views per user stands at 441. In addition to that, data transfer has seen a rise of 321.5% since last year and users consumed 7MB of data per month on an average. Among handsets, Nokia 2690 is the most preferred device for  Opera Mini users in India, while Nokia X2 has moved up five places since December 2010.
