TZ Mobile, the 50:50 joint venture between mobile VAS company Tanla Solutions and Spanish digital content and services company ZED Worldwide Holdings SL, has finally inked some deals in India. Responding to MediaNama’s question on its conference call, Tanla Solutions CMD Uday Reddy said that TZ Mobile has closed deals to manage the on-deck portal for Idea Cellular, which is expected to go live in the next 10-15 days. Apart from this, the company has also done a deal with Ericsson last week, and Ericsson is managing one of the operator decks in India.

International content will be sourced from Zed (Monty Python, maybe?), while for local (Indian) content, deals are being inked with vendors in India. Hopefully, it won’t be the same old ABCD (Astrology, Bollywood, Cricket, Devotional) type content that appears to be available at Reddy declined to comment on the revenue impact he expects from this deal.

Tanla and Zed had inked the joint venture back in March 2009, and it’s taken a while for deployments to begin. Zed has a presence in 61 countries, with 1500 employees, 50% of which are in R&D and innovation. Interestingly, Zed also has a development center in Pune, India, according to its corporate presentation (PDF).
