Salil Kumar Joins As CEO Of BagItToday

Salil Kumar, former COO at NDTV Convergence, has joined the India Today Group as the CEO of it's e-commerce venture BagItToday, MediaNama has learned from multiple, reliable sources both within and outside of the India Today Group. At the time of filing this report, Kumar was not taking our calls, and a text message from us requesting a denial if false did not receive a response. BagItToday offers its registered users discounts on limited pieces of high value items for a limited period of time. The business targets "middle India" with aspirational products, with discounts of over 50%. There has been an increase in activity around e-commerce, with several group buying ventures like Deals and You, Taggle, SnapDeal, KhojGuru, and bargain deal sites like BindassBargain, MyDala and those offering premium products like FashionAndYou. Kumar has joined BagItToday after a brief stint at Microsoft, following his move from NDTV Convergence last year. At NDTV Convergence, he was believed to have been responsible for chalking out the mobile strategy; prior to joining NDTV Convergence, he was with Bharti Airtel, where he was GM (Strategic Alliances and Business Development). Prior to joining Airtel, he was with Hungama, before which he was at HT Media Ltd. So will we see BagItToday going mobile now?
