There will be two separate networks. One will provide coverage to all Games applications, administrative and video surveillance for security agencies, VOIP, internet services at designated venues along with the management system. This network will be called the Managed Data Network (MDN).
The second, the Broadcast Network, will provide an exclusive coverage for video applications to facilitate uncompressed high definition studio to studio; video transport from stadium to IBC and Cable Access TV Broadcast Network.
MTNL has planned out the network with multiple redundancies using high capacity Internet Protocol / Multi Protocol Label Switching (IP / MPLS). The operator will also provide Dark Fiber along with IP/MPLS at no cost to the Government. The Commonwealth Games are scheduled to begin in 200 days.
