Tata DoCoMo’s Internet Promotional Offers

Tata DoCoMo, the GSM joint venture between Tata Indicom and NTT DoCoMo, has launched two promotional offers targeting heavy users of Internet on mobile. They bring a taste of “unlimited” data usage and at very attractive rates, but remember – it will not last. The wait for affordable, fast mobile Internet and 3G continues. Docomo users can buy a special “EVD recharge” cards (electronic voucher cards) from a retailer. The prepaid cards are in two denominations:

  • Rs. 15 – with a validity period of 3 days, this is bait for new users who want to test mobile Internet or who use it rarely.
  • Rs. 95 – lasts a month. If it offers good speeds, could be used to connect it to your laptop and browse.

Considering that the telco is still new and has a low subscriber base, it could be that speeds will be higher than other subscribers experience. The telco’s general rates for GPRS are 1 paisa per Kb. A rental pack for postpaid users costs Rs. 99, which allows 100 Mb of data transfers and downloads, for a validity of a month.
