Shashi: it could be that they think third party data is perceived as more credible, than their own numbers.

Rishi: that's one of the problems, right? If I compare Wordpress Stats for MediaNama and Google Analytics - they're quite different. If I publish a story on twitter using http://bit.ly , which records click throughs for a link, numbers story views and incoming hits are significantly different from the pageviews recorded by WP Stats and Google Analytics.
So even with internal stats - what do you trust?

Hi Shashi,

Google is using comscor because there penetration becomes 40% of the internet population in India with 13 million users. If 2x number of any other source is taken as base its penetration gets reduced to 20%.

Comscore is crap for India. It's panel does not include cafes. We work for a leading SNS and our numbers are 2X the Comscore numbers, based on another 3rd party one-time analysis. Google Analytics also indicates about 2x numbers when compared to Comscore.

I have tried Facebook advertising with both CPC and CPM model. The CPC rates are comparable to Google Adwords, which is a better channel. If you go for CPM and measure it based on CTR, it turns out to be more expensive than CPC since CTR is incredibly low (quite understandable.) So, pitching for CPM with branding as the purpose makes sense.

BTW, why is Google giving comscore numbers? I will have more trust if they publish their own numbers.
