Former NDTV Convergence CEO Sanjay Trehan will be joining Microsoft to head MSN reports Exchange4media. MediaNama has independently confirmed this from sources within MSN, though there isn’t yet clarity on his designation. Trehan, when contacted, declined to comment: neither confirming nor denying the development.
Speculation has been rife since Trehan put in his papers at NDTV, and Indiatimes and Yahoo were seen has possible contenders, though the buzz on Yahoo reduced after Arun Tadanki joined Yahoo.
The MSN position has been vacant since Country Manager (India) Jaspreet Bindra took over as head of Microsoft’s Entertainment and Devices segment from Mohit Anand. We’re told that Krishna Prasad, Executive Producer for Microsoft has been holding fort at MSN. It is expected that Trehan will report to Hemant Sachdev, Joint Managing Director for Microsofts Consumer and Online Business, operating out of Delhi.

following anomalies in your story:
- Hemant Sachdeva is not MD at Microsoft India he is GM for COI- consumer Online International.
- MSN was merged in COI.
- After Jaspreet Bindra joining EDD, Hemant was made the head of COI. Jaspreet was acting GM for COI for some time.
- Krishna Prasad is executive producer (in lay man' term content Head) and this is not the revenue role so his holding MSN forte is out of question. Also he reports to Hemant.
abc: I know that MSN was merged into Consumer and Online: as I've mentioned in the story, Hemant Sachdev is Joint MD for Microsofts Consumer and Online division – what you're referring to as COI. I've not said that he is MD of Microsoft India. Agree on EP is not being a revenue position.
Nikhil: in your story you have mentioned that Hemant is MD please
" Former NDTV Convergence CEO Sanjay Trehan…………..and will report to Microsoft MD Hemant Sachdev"
I stand corrected. My apologies. Updating that.
