CNBC Awaaz has recently launched Awaaz Karobar, a Hindi news site, according to Alootechie. Awaaz Karobar is targeted at investors amongst the Hindi audience. The site offers live streaming video from CNBC’s Hindi news channel Awaaz besides blogs, articles on the commodities market and stock quotes.

In September last year, Network18 launched a Hindi portal IBN Khabar – the online version of IBN 7, the news channel. A third site – Josh18 – powers both Khabar and Awaz Karobar. Web 18’s diversification of its properties is unique in a market where many prime Hindi news channels do not have a corresponding Hindi website.

NDTV has a Hindi website – Khabar – but steers clear of business news in the language site. Aaj Tak, by the India Today group, offers Hindi news and videos on its site.  Here’s a glance at the other Hindi news channels and their websites:

- Zee News: A Hindi News channel with an English site: does lip service to its channel by playing Hindi videos.
- Star News: glossy gallery, scrolls images of its Hindi primetime shows. Its news counterpart is devoid of Hindi reports and lacks usability. Just to access Star News Live, we had to visit and VideoOnTheRocks select Star News in a drop down menu.
- News24, a 24 hour Hindi news channel by B.A.G Films & Media Ltd., was launched in 2007 to target the young adult. Its website is completely in English but plays live streaming video in Hindi. In March last year, the media house launched another website for Bollywood news called E24 which offers videos from its entertainment channel E24.
- India TV: The link to Live IndiaTV News was not working. The website is completely in English.

From what we have seen, Hindi news channels need to revamp their websites, and some even need to switch to Hindi websites.

Many of us believe that any content is good content in Hindi till it helps promulgate the language on the net :) There are some, unknown to the non-Hindi world, sites such as http://moltol.inas well that operate in this domain.

I feel the problem is deeper, how many people know how to access Hindi fonts onto their PC? Now the answer is all over the web but how many reach for it.

For the younger Generation, they tend to forget, that English is only Business Language not our Mother Tongue. Am sure there are a lot of "learned" people here, feel that their "regional" tongue precedes our Mother tongue i.e Hindi.

I feel cohesion is important for any country, language is one of them, which is difficult to achieve in India because it's countries within a country.

What unites India anyway besides cricket ??? What evokes Nationalism in this ever growing global village. I personally South Koreans who lovingly are learning Hindi over English. But what id Hindi media doing for their own Mother Tongue ??
